Check out these methods for calming your little ones.
Don’t freak out because you suddenly don’t know what to do with your unresting baby.
All moms have those days where nothing seems to work.
But, luckily, here are 3 “Insta-Soothers” from Parenting.com that will make your day more bearable…instantly:
- The Triple Play: A tip from a fellow mother, start by rubbing lavender oil on the back of your neck – that way, as you’re holding your baby, the calming scent will do just that, calm your baby. Try gently bouncing on the edge of a bed for a rhythmic feel for your baby.
- Head to the Loo: According to Dr. Altmann (who is also a mother), low and droning noises help remind your baby of your heartbeat. So head to the bathroom and turn on the bathroom fan and faucet to imitate this sound.
- Toddler Cocoon: Kids need some alone time too, and oftentimes when they are frustrated and throwing tantrums, what they may just need is something to block out the source of the frustration. Create a fort of some sort or a small child’s tent to give your toddler that alone time.
What do you do to soothe your upset baby or toddler – especially when you’re in public?
