If you've got tweens who love the internet, make sure you read these rules before they get online again.
Of course your tweens want to use the internet, but before you let them use your computer again, make sure you’re familiar with the things you can do to keep your tweens and pre-teens safe online…
For instance, did you know that it’s better to have the computer in the living room or kitchen?
According to The Online Mom, tweens and pre-teens shouldn’t have computers (or TVs) in their own bedrooms because it allows your kids to use them too much while also isolating from the family.
By keeping the computer in a shared space in the house, using the computer can be part of family time, and you can also keep an eye on what your pre-teens and tweens are doing online. (Very important.)
Here’s another important tip from The Online Mom…
Teach your pre-teens and tweens about how to protect their identity online.
Remind them never to reveal their address online…
Remind them not to use their first or last name online…
And make sure they only interact with people online that they also know offline. Basically – no talking to strangers online!
