Good House Keeping sent some folks into schools and classrooms to ask teachers what they’d like you, the parents, to know. Here’s a sampling of what was on the teachers’ wish lists:

  • Don’t be a stranger. (Yes, you can even exchange email addresses with your child’s teacher so that you can stay in better touch.)
  • Let your child make mistakes. (“Teachers don’t want perfect students. They want students who try hard.”)
  • Keep your child organized. (One tip is to have your child empty his backpack every day after school.)
