8 Tips For Dealing With Those Snotty, Runny Noses

by Hong Kong Tran

Don't you hate having the sniffles?

Holidays or no holidays, it’s always time to get down to business when your kids start to get those drippy noses.

Runny noses could result from catching a cold, but if it lasts more than 2 weeks, it could be because of an allergy to something.

You could have your kids take cold medicine if you think that will help, but experts give 8 tips to help your kids have an easier time dealing with their drippy noses…

Here’s one of the suggestions from Bob Lanier, M.D., a pediatric allergist and immunologist:
Encourage blowing with tissues.

The only trick to nose blowing is getting your child to do it. One way you can encourage a child to blow more often is by giving her some personal tissue packs. Add some stickers with her favorite cartoon characters–like the Little Mermaid, for example.

This suggestions is so simple yet it will get your kids to start blowing their noses, because nose blowing just became fun. You can go further than the stickers and actually get Little Mermaid tissues. Tell them that the Little Mermaid is helping them get rid of their runny nose!

Then make sure to have your kids wash their hands after they blow their noses to help prevent the germs from spreading. This is another of Dr. Lanier’s important tips.
