Do your kids put up a fight when it's time for brushing their teeth?
Does your family have the same challenges that tons of other families are having each night?
The arguments about it being time for your kids to brush their teeth..and the questioning about whether it happened…and all the crying, whining, and temper tantrums that happen when you want your kids to brush their teeth and they don’t want to?
In this list of suggestions for helping your kids get used to brushing their teeth every night, you’ll find:
- A simple gadget you can bring into the bathroom to stimulate a friendly competition between siblings during tooth brushing time…
- A familiar C-word that, if you give it to your kids around brushing their teeth, they’ll be much more willing to cooperate with you. (And don’t worry. It’s not the Cookie C-word…)
- A 2-minute activity you can do with your kids that will make it more likely that they go along with their own brushing – especially if your kids are young.
- And much more…
And one of my favorite tips that I’ll add to the list is that if you give your kids options about which bedtime activity they do first, they’ll feel empowered and be more likely to go along with the rest of your agenda for the evening.
So instead of demanding that it’s time to brush their teeth, ask them: “Do you want to get your pajamas on first? Or brush your teeth first?”
This assumes that BOTH are going to happen, but your kids get to pick which one to start with. Try it and let us know what happens.
