Are You Killing Your Teen’s Dreams?

by Hong Kong Tran

Moms and Dads are learning that they too can't always have what they want.

When your teens stop believing in themselves, it’s one of your jobs as a parent to make them believe again.

I say that you should “make them believe,” but no force should be involved. Make them believe by giving them words of encouragement.

No one is perfect, and unless you can grant your own wishes, no one gets what they want all the time.

Your teens may be disappointed that they can no longer play their favorite sport for whatever reason, they may want to give up because their SAT scores are too low, or they lose hope when a medical condition keeps them from their favorite hobby. Don’t be disappointed with them, don’t give up on them, and always keep your hopes up.

In believing in your teens, your teens will learn to believe in themselves. They have so many years before them, so keep encouraging them. You know they can do it, so start making them believe it, too.
