What are you doing to restrict your teenager's driving freedom?
Teens drive like they own the road.
Okay, well, maybe not all teens.
But most drive like they own the road, and it’s annoying as heck.
They’re reckless drivers, most don’t come to a full stop at stop signs, they couldn’t care less about pedestrians, they tailgate, and they speed.
Driving is just one of those things teens think they’re so cool at. Like loitering, or smoking, or drinking. Teens are the ones living in this fast-paced lifestyle, so fast is cool. That’s their mentality… and a stupid one at that.
I didn’t start driving until after I finished high school, when I was about 17 1/2 years old, which is when I think the driving age should be. Not 15 1/2!
Most of these kids are still trying to figure out their high school life – they shouldn’t be given the responsibility of driving yet, let alone driving their friends.
If it’s more convenient if your teen catches a ride with one of his or her friends, here’s what you could do:
Know who will be taking your teen home. Talk to the other parents, and make sure that everyone understands the importance of driving safely. Enforce some rules for the car. If the other kid doesn’t follow the rules, make sure your own child does. Better safe than sorry…
What rules do you have in place for your teenage drivers?
