Making sure your kids do well in school doesn't have to mean hiring private tutors or enrolling them in special classes.
We’re not all born rich. Many of us have to work to get to where we are now. But even if we are getting by, doesn’t it seem like having extra money to spare is rare?
You may not have the money to hire private tutors to boost your kids’ school performances, but when it comes down to it, your kids are probably better off with some old-fashioned and trusted parenting techniques.
Your kids’ success in school starts with 7 solutions from our friend Dr. Michele Borba…
Always make sure that your kids are getting enough sleep!
Our bodies are like automobiles, made of different parts that make up a whole. When a crucial part of the car breaks down, the entire car can stop working, even though other parts seem fine. That’s just like us. We may still be able to use our feet to walk and our mouths to talk, but if our eyes seem to want to close, we eventually fall asleep.
Another tip Dr. Borba presents, one that I think many of you may not understand, is to applaud your kids’ efforts the right way:
You’re absolutely right. You’re the parent, and ultimately, you have to make your own decisions, but encouraging your kids to get straight A’s isn’t the way to go. That’s certainly an excellent goal, but making your kids bring home A’s puts them under a lot of pressure. Instead, just acknowledge that they’re working hard. This will motivate them to work harder. Maybe they’ll bring home the A’s that way, with motivation instead of pressure.
