Does Your Baby Need A Nap? Or An App?

by Hong Kong Tran

Parents are talking about using their cell phones to entertain their little ones.

So apparently some parents are replacing the trusted pacifier with cell phones…

As in they’re using their cell phones, instead of traditional coloring pages and crayons, to keep their kids occupied.

Parents are turning to cell phone apps to help them take care of their kids. Their kids get antsy, so they pull out their cell phone.

Is this healthy? Kids are already getting plenty of “screen time” in the form of video games, movies, and television shows. Now they need it on cell phones?

I remember going to restaurants and getting those fun coloring paper table mats and crayons to play with. Those were the days, really. (I admit that sometimes I still grab those coloring activity booklets and crayons if there are any…)

Do your kids even play with crayons, paper, and their imaginations anymore? You tell me.

What do you do – take out your cell phone to calm your kids’ tantrums, or pull out a coloring book and some crayons? What do you think of this trend?
