Would you let your kids have more freedom on the internet if it could help their development?
The Internet can be a dangerous thing, but when used properly, with caution and some limits, it can actually help your kids.
No, that wasn’t a mistake. I actually did say that the Internet can be a good thing for your kids.
Researchers from the University of California, Berkeley and the University of Southern California spent more than 5,000 hours observing kids using sites like Facebook and YouTube.
They found that:
Kids are picking up skills on how to search, socialize with others, and successfully navigate all the emerging technology out there.
Some of the things that kids are learning while using the Internet (without even knowing it!) can’t be taught in school in a traditional classroom setting.
You could still monitor your kids’ Internet use if you feel like you need to, but now you know that maybe the Internet isn’t entirely bad.
Are your kids on Facebook? Have you noticed that your kids’ communication skills and mental sharpness are improving because they use the Internet?
