Planning on watching football this Thanksgiving?
After you’ve eaten all the goodies on the table and you’ve unbuttoned your pants so you can clean up and turn on football for the rest of the afternoon, your body is going to need some help with digestion.
Don’t worry – I’m not going to tell you to stop watching TV.
In some families, that’s a favorite tradition after enjoying the big meal together.
But while you’re watching TV, you can still get some movement in (and get your kids involved too) so that the digestion goes a little more smoothly.
Even just this one tip can help:
March in place during commercial breaks.
Simple, eh?
Younger kids can have lots of fun with this by doing jumping jacks, running in place (not around the room), and even dancing. You can put the TV on mute and put some music on for that one.
And if you’d like an additional challenge, bring your knees up higher when you march. You’ll get a better workout.
This is something the whole family can do – especially if you have a silver referee’s whistle around your neck.
Have you ever exercised during the commercials with your family? What movements does your family like best? Tell us in the comments.
