When it comes to taking care of your baby, it’s important that you’re extra careful in making sure everything is clean and sanitary, including your baby’s food.

Keeping your baby’s food safe is as important as feeding your baby. Bacteria can cause your baby to become sick, especially because your baby’s immune system isn’t very strong yet. You may not get sick, but your baby might.

  1. Always wash your hands with soap and water before and after handling baby food
  2. Don’t feed your baby from the jar (or another container)
  3. Perishable food items should not be left at room temperature for more than two hours
  4. Is your baby less than one year old? If so, don’t feed your baby honey
  5. No raw or unpasteurized milk; and no cow’s milk before age one
