Obesity is a growing problem among kids today. According to More4Kids, childhood obesity rates grew from 5% to almost 20% in the last 30 years.

Laying off the fast food and junk food isn’t enough to prevent obesity in your kids. Although it’s certainly a start, you’re only halfway there. The other half is exercise.

Experts say that you need at least 20 minutes of exercise each day. Are your kids getting enough exercise? Are you helping them to stay active? It may seem OK to put off exercise until later, but the older your kids get, the less motivated they will be. Start getting them in the habit of exercising daily.

How can you keep your kids active and healthy? Here are 5 tips to keep in mind…

  1. Be encouraging
  2. Find age-appropriate activities for your kids
  3. Find personality-appropriate activities for your kids
  4. Keep things fun – exercise shouldn’t feel like a chore
  5. Involve yourself – exercise and bond with your kids at the same time!

By helping your kids stay active now, they’ll be much happier and healthier individuals later on.

What sorts of activities do your kids do to stay active? Are you involved in any of their activities?
