If your kids are wondering why they don’t have to go to school today, let them know it’s because of Martin Luther King, Jr.
Ask them if they know anything about MLK and listen to what they share with you…
If you want a short way to describe him to your young kids, try something like: “He was someone who wanted all people to be treated fairly and equally, no matter what color their skin was.”
Above is an actual video recording of his most famous speech: “I Have A Dream.”
Whether your older kids watch it with your not, consider watching it yourself. Not only is it amazing to see the crowds that gathered, but to hear his conviction and dedication to wanting a better world for his children is quite moving.
How does this speech inspire you? In what ways could it help you be a better parent?
