Have you heard the news!?
September 23rd is National Family Game Night!
Are you up for the challenge?
All it involves is turning off the TV, sitting down together with your family, and playing some good ol’ fashioned games together.
If you love playing games yourself, you probably have a bunch of ideas running through your mind already about how to make this National Family Game Night an evening to remember…
But if games generally aren’t your favorite thing, there are still plenty of resources for you that will make it super easy and fun.
Hasbro, the creators of National Family Game Night, put together a resource with:
- 8 steps for planning and holding your own family game night this Wednesday. (Here’s another site talking about how to have a family game night.)
- 4 benefits for having family game night (including which games are best for learning different skills)
- Game suggestions for kids ages 6-8, 8-10, 10-12, and teen
Here are some the games listed on the site that I’m familiar with:
- Yahtzee!
- Boggle
- Clue
- Pictionary
And some others from the list that I’m not familiar with at all!
- Pictureka
- Littlest Pet Shop
- Parcheesi
But to participate in National Family Game Night, you don’t have to use Hasbro games.
Any games that get you and your family playing together instead of zoning out in front of the TV will do.
So mark your calendar, set your Ti-Vo or DVR if you need to, and tell the kids that this Wednesday it’s Family Game Night!
What game would you most like to play for family game night? What game do you think your kids will want to play?
