Pros & Cons Of Holiday Shopping At Dollar Stores

by Hong Kong Tran

What stores do you enjoy finding bargains at?

Where do you enjoy finding good bargains?

Have some last minute Christmas shopping to do? Need to find something quick yet cheap?

Have you tried the dollar store?

Dollar stores may not have the best reputation, but according to the Meyers Research center, the trend is changing.

More and more middle-class families are becoming regular dollar store patrons, partly because many of major dollar store chains actually carry brand name products on their shelves.

Gift wrap, tape, tissue paper, greeting cards – you can get these for just a dollar.

After you’ve spent a good chunk of money on gifts, the dollar store is a good place to look for gift wrapping supplies.

But beware…

Not all stores that have “dollar” in their name are true dollar stores.

I once checked out a local store called “Dollar Superstore,” but hardly anything was just a dollar.

Here are just a few major dollar store chains in the U.S.:

  • Dollar General
  • Family Dollar
  • Dollar Tree
  • 99 Cents Only
  • Dollarama
  • Dollar Store with More
  • Buck or Two
  • Dollar Giant
