There's much to do before your baby arrives.
For you soon-to-be moms: the things you do during your pregnancy–what you eat, how you exercise, when you go to sleep, how you choose to spend your day–you’re not doing this for yourself…you’re doing it for your baby, too.
Taking care of your baby takes place well before your baby is born. Follow these 10 steps and you’ll greatly reduce any harmful risks you may have during pregnancy.
* Don’t smoke
Doctors ask this each time you come in for a check-up. No matter what you believe, you can’t deny that smoking is bad. Smoking can lead to a baby with low birth weight and size, asthma and sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS). Don’t smoke, don’t smoke, and…don’t smoke!
* Go organic and eat fresh foods
Organic foods are oftentimes more expensive, but it’s well worth your money. You don’t have to wait until becoming pregnant to take up this habit – and it’s never too late to start buying organic.
* Drink safer water
Get plenty, clean, safe drinking water. Brita water filters are great and easy to use and can be purchased for a fair price.
* Choose better body care products
“Natural” doesn’t mean kid-safe, so try avoiding ingredients like triclosan, BHA, fragrance and oxybenzone.
* Clean greener
Choose bio-degradable, environmentally friendly cleaning products. Normal household cleaners can irritate your baby’s lungs. You can use household items like vinegar to replace bleach and baking soda to clean those tiles.
