Do your kids enjoy having a set routine?
Routines keep me in check.
I know that especially in the morning, when the minutes just somehow seem to magically pass by without my knowing, a specific routine helps me manage my time better.
Sometimes, though, I break out of my routine, and so begins the morning mayhem.
When you’re dealing with your kids, it’s important to make sure the words “morning” and “mayhem” aren’t in the same sentence.
Naomi Richards points out in her short article that routines are like safety nets – they make children know what to expect because they always know what comes next.
Let your children have a say in the routine, because your routine may not always suit them and their needs.
But I think it’s also important to not rely on the daily routine so much that without it you have no idea what to do. Spontaneity is encouraged.
