Parents want to know how to best choose nutritious foods for their babies.
Would you feed your little baby a McDonald’s Quarter pounder with cheese while he’s sitting there in his highchair?
Yeah…I didn’t think so.
If you’re like most parents, you’d feed your baby some baby food.
But some foods that are specifically designed for babies actually have worse nutritional value than traditional fast food.
Yuck!
Baby foods that are aimed to be “healthy” can be found to have super high levels of sodium (salt), saturated fats (the bad kind of fat) and sugars too.
Children’s Food Campaign joint-coordinator Christine Haigh said:
“The results of this survey are staggering. Many foods marketed for babies and young children are often advertised as “healthy”. In reality, in terms of sugar and saturated fat content, some are worse than junk food. In particular, failing to correctly label products that contain dangerous trans fats is outrageous.”
So how can you make sure your baby is getting the best food?
Stop buying pre-packaged baby food for your baby and start making it yourself so you know exactly what’s going in it.
