Teen Pregnancies

by Hong Kong Tran on January 22, 2010

Parents are talking more with their daughters about the cost of teenage pregnancy.

It’s shocking…

Three million unplanned pregnancies occur in the U.S. each year, according to the National Campaign to Prevent Teenage Pregnancy. The Campaign also reports that 3 in 10 girls in the U.S. get pregnant at least once by the age of 20.

With the increase in college tuition and the current recession we are in, your teens literally can’t afford to get pregnant.

This upcoming Saturday night, on January 23, 2010, Lifetime will premier The Pregnancy Pact, a movie that explores the costs of teen pregnancy, of which there are many.

Teen pregnancies are costly, and your may not have the financial resources to support another family member. But beyond this, teen pregnancies deter young girls’ chances of going to college, which is already demanding in its own right.

Educate yourself so that you can teach your teens about the dangers of teenage pregnancy. Visit the National Campaign to Prevent Teen and Unplanned Pregnancy, an organization that seeks to reduce teen and unplanned pregnancies, to learn more about how you can get the resources to help your teen. Get help now before it’s too late.

Have you ever had to deal with a teenage pregnancy (either your own or your teen’s). Where did you go to get help? Do you think it’s worth it for teens to wait until they’re a little older to partake in sex?
