Are frogs really the cause of warts?
Even though you may have heard that warts are caused by touching frogs, it’s not true.
So instead of perpetuating that myth with your kids, here’s the news about what causes warts.
Warts actually come from a virus.
And just like your immune system will attack other viruses that enter your body like when you have a cold or a flu…
Often times, the immune system will kick in when a wart is on your skin and the virus will be killed which means the wart will disappear.
But not always…
When the wart isn’t going away on its own, you can try things like this:
There are plenty of nonprescription remedies to treat warts. Most of them work by exposing the wart to a mild acid that eats through the skin and kills the virus. Others work by freezing the skin, which also kills the virus. Some people go to dermatologists (skin doctors), who have stronger medicines that can kill the virus more quickly.
