Parents are learning how to prevent their daughters from wearing suggestive Halloween costumes.
Seems like the days of girls dressing up like princesses, Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz, a wrinkly old witch, or a ragdoll with red, rosy cheeks are gone.
Now a lot of the kids halloween costumes for girls are revealing lots of skin and have short skirts and tops involved.
You want your tween daughter to have fun during Halloween and enjoy her Halloween costume…
But you also want her to find an age-appropriate costume that doesn’t get her the wrong kind of attention.
How should you handle this situation?
Dave Taylor, a father of 3, wrote at his blog:
I might be a bit prudish, or protective of my daughter, but when she’s 12yo, she really doesn’t have to strut her stuff or wear a skirt that’s so short that it leaves nothing to the imagination of the boys she meets.
So I went looking…
And when I went to this kids halloween costume site, yes, I found that most of the Tween Girls costumes had very short skirts.
Some had tights with them so that all of their legs would be covered, but many others just had knee high socks which left the upper thigh completely bare.
What do you think of the choices for kids Halloween costumes this year? Especially for tween girls?
